Application and Removal of One-Use Protective Aprons

Introduction

Protective aprons are an essential part of personal protective equipment (PPE), providing a barrier against infection during various tasks.

Application Process

  1. Place Over Head: Position the apron over the head.
  2. Tie at Back: Secure the ties or straps at the back with a bow or loop.

Usage Notes:

Aprons are typically worn with glasses, rubber gloves, and caps for additional protection.

Removal Process

  1. Handle Contaminated Side: Identify and avoid touching the contaminated side.
  2. Tear Collar: Tear the collar first to break the strap and create a barrier.
  3. Remove Straps: Tear the straps around the waist, folding and touching only the clean side.

Disposal:

Dispose of the apron in yellow plastic disposable contamination bags.

Important Tips

  • Avoid Front Contamination: Never touch the front side of the apron.
  • Remove Before Gloves: Always remove the apron before taking off gloves.
